While loop in C
A while loop checks its condition before each repetition. If the condition is false at the beginning, the body may execute zero times.
Syntax / Basic Pattern
while (condition) { // body }
Easy points to remember
- Initialize the control variable before the loop.
- Change the control variable inside the loop when required.
- Use while when the number of repetitions is not necessarily known in advance.
⭐ PRACTICE TIP: Type these programs yourself. Change the values and run them again. That is how control statements become easy.
Program 1: Print 1 to 5
#include <stdio.h> int main(){int i=1;while(i<=5){printf(“%d “,i);i++;}return 0;}
OUTPUT 1 2 3 4 5
Program 2: Print 5 to 1
#include <stdio.h> int main(){int i=5;while(i>=1){printf(“%d “,i);i–;}return 0;}
OUTPUT 5 4 3 2 1
Program 3: Sum 1 to 10
#include <stdio.h> int main(){int i=1,s=0;while(i<=10){s+=i;i++;}printf(“%d”,s);return 0;}
OUTPUT 55
